Glorious fall weather. Splendid setting. Beautiful art. These are just some of the elements that came together for the unveiling of this sixth winner of the Greater Greenwood Arts Council’s Art Uncorked award. This year’s winner is Stephanie McDairmant from Warsaw, Indiana. Her artwork appears on the label of the 2017 Mallow Run Winery Artist Series wine. On her Facebook page, she said, “They have yet to invent words that describe how thankful and joyous everything about this honor and event make me feel. THANK YOU, Greater Greenwood Arts Council and Mallow Run Winery. It was magical!”

Reception

The evening opened with a reception where attendees could meet the artist and view a selection of her work. It was at the reception where the winning artist was recognized and honored. All the winners from the earlier years were also present.

Dinner in the vineyard

Following the reception, 115 diners moved to the vineyard. There they enjoyed a four-course Farm-to-Table dinner prepared by Chef John Barto of Food Guys Catering Company. The food was paired with a selected Mallow Run wine flight, including the premiere release of the 2017 Artist Series wine.

The Releasing of the Lanterns

The evening closed just after dark as the guests sent paper lanterns high into the air. Cheryl Dobbs commented it was, “as if we were adding our own stars to the night sky.” The celebrants recalled the events of the evening as the lanterns disappeared into the darkness.
